7 Tech Jobs That Will Pay Well in 2022

Technology is a huge part of our everyday lives and is more relevant than it was just a few decades ago. If you look at the list of the top 100 highest-paying jobs¹, you’ll see many related to technology.

Many companies are looking for people who are passionate and interested in technology to fill the roles. Although most of the following jobs require a bachelor’s or master’s degree, you may be able to obtain training online due to the high demand for these professionals.

This article goes over seven of the highest-paying jobs in technology, how much they pay, and the daily job duties.

Data Scientist

Data scientists analyze and interpret complex data to help businesses make smarter and more cost-effective decisions. They consult with companies and examine which questions need answering and where to find the related data. They create data models, code in programming languages such as Python and SAS, and understand machine learning.

Typically, data scientists need a bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, computer science, data, or a related field.

Software Developer

Software developers create, design, and build computer applications. Some develop mobile or desktop applications, while others create underlying operating systems. They identify the user’s needs, build programs, test the software, and make improvements.

Typically, software developers need a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology or a related field.

Network Systems Administrator

Network systems administrators are responsible for keeping the daily operations of computer networks up-to-date and running smoothly. They work with companies that use multiple software platforms or computers to coordinate the different systems. They regularly troubleshoot and analyze the current network structure.

Network systems administrators typically require a bachelor’s degree in computer or information science or a related field.

Information Security Analyst

Also called cybersecurity analysts, information security analysts plan and conduct the appropriate security measures to protect a company’s computer networks and systems. They plan, evaluate, and implement security strategies to prevent security breaches and ensure the company’s assets are secure.

Typically, information security analysts have a bachelor’s degree in computer science and related work experience.

Software Architect

Software architects make high-level design choices and frame technical standards, including tools, platforms, or software coding standards. Their role is similar to that of a project manager, where they work with and lead teams of developers, create and assign project tasks, and make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Software architects should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.

Product Manager

Product managers help determine the limitations around a product and the engineering team builds, then lead the development from product idea to launch. They identify the market need and the business objectives that a product or service will fulfil, determine what success looks like, and help the team turn the vision into reality.

Product managers typically need a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.

Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Artificial intelligence (AI) engineers build AI machines using machine learning algorithms and manage and oversee AI initiatives within a company. They also use deep learning neural networks to get insights into the business, which can help make business decisions. They should have extensive knowledge in statistics and mathematics as well as programming skills.

AI engineers should have a bachelor’s degree in computer or data science, engineering, physics, or another related field.

Now more than ever before, there are many jobs in the technology industry that will pay well in 2022 and beyond. The jobs in the list above pay an average annual salary of $80,000 and up.
