Speaker Bio - Troy Vennon
Troy Vennon’s career spans 24 years and focused entirely on Information Security roles across several security domains beginning in 1998 with the United States Marine Corps as SNCOIC of the Marine Corps Network Operations & Security Center’s (MCNOSC) Marine Computer Emergency Response Team (MarCERT), until he joined the private sector in 2006 as a security tester and evangelist. His career in the private sector has also seen him working in both small startup companies and large enterprises environments.
Troy is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer and the Director of Security Innovation at GoSecure from a recent acquisition of Covail (formerly, Columbus Collaboratory). In his role, he focuses on strategic and tactical Threat Intelligence, helping organizations operationalize MITRE ATT&CK to better understand their threat profiles, control coverage and control gaps, how control coverage drives Continuous Defense Improvement and affects risk and risk tolerance.

Elena’s career started in 2003 and was initially related to her original training in Economics and Banking. In the early 2000’s she grew from being an analyst and system integrator working for a risk insurance company to the position of its Chairman of the Board. She then moved to investment consulting and has been working on managing the implementation of complex technology and financial projects for organizations collaborating with strategic investors in Ukraine. After moving to Canada, Elena got her Executive MBA and founded Cyper.
Cyper works as a system integrator and technology consultant with organizations across Canada, U.S., and Europe. Elena combines her insurance and tech backgrounds which influenced Cyper’s mission and vision. She believes that business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident responses have to be a normal practice embedded in organizations' DNA.
Today, at Cyper, she is focused on bringing the company’s expertise to serve organizations for which technologies are a vital component of their existence.
